Personality:
Strengths
Patient - As both a highly experienced mage and craftswoman Lark displays great deals of patience. No project, whether carding wool, spinning thread, weaving, or making clothes is served by rushing, as that will often spoil the project or set one back to step one. This patience is also notable as it is one of the primary reasons that Lark, along with her partner Rosethorn, are trusted with young mages or troublemakers brought to the Winding Circle Temple. She even seems to help create this outwardly, using her own calm, soft, patient words to soothe tempers when they are running high, such as during a pirate attack upon the temple.
Gentle - Lark is noted for her calm and gentle nature, and is known to take most stressful situations with a serenity that can soothe others. As someone who effectively mentors and raises children, her gentleness means she rarely ever raises her voice or scolds her charges, rather preferring to go the route of quiet disappointment. This comes in play as well with her power, as strong, sharp, or angry commands given into thread and weaving magics can sunder the whole work, even scaring the threads into being unruly or shredded. Gentleness is a requirement to work her craft at the level she does, and so she extends it out into as much of her life as she can, as much from that as from her dedication to her religion.
Playful - None of the above erases the inherent playfulness of Lark. Before she was discovered as a mage, she lived her life as a dancer and acrobat, and she still possesses all of the quick grace and delight with that old field of work. She's been known to turn handstands to make her charges laugh or smile, abandon lessons on a hot day to instead teach children to cartwheel. There have even been instances of her teasing and joking with Rosethorn or the children she takes care of, much to the shock of those who don't know her very well.

Weaknesses
Condescending - Lark is depicted of being very judgemental of certain groups of people, and this can shade her behaviors. One good example is of members of the Water Temple at Winding Circle, which she actively describes as flighty and unreliable when she finds they're nearly out of bandages and no one had started the weavers on making new ones. She also displays the same sorts of opinions toward nobility that don't take care of their people, rough guards, and those who suggest that people who are poor have done that to themselves. She is not beyond taking those she feels to be in error to task with verbal reprimands and chiding, as if she knows more than them (which she might).
Fearful - There are certain things which can terrify Lark to the point of almost being unable to act. Chief of these is illness, as she has survived through a few epidemics and lost many friends to them. The idea of losing someone she loves dearly can also cause her to break down. She also comes to worry about her charges when they are reckless, to the point of actual yelling when she thinks they have put themselves at risk, such as when they pulled her lover back from death. The world is dangerous and she's seen a lot of loss, and while she can usually be reasonable, those sorts of situation can leave Lark fully off balance.

Abilities:
Ambient Magic - Thread/Weaving Focus
Ambient magic is magic that manifests through specific tools, actions, and creative outputs of craftwork. For Lark her magic can be infused into and worked through all tools and creations derived from fiber working. Her magic can work upon and through: fibers themselves such as loose wool, linen, and silk fibers before it's spun; the results of spinning like thread, yarn, cord, and rope; woven things like cloth; as well as the tools of the processes such as spindles, looms, and knitting needles; and over finished products made of any form of fabric, natural or otherwise. If it looks and behaves like thread or cloth or works in a similar way, she can work it.

Her magic allows her command over these things, and she could at will order all threads around herself to tangle, turning clothing into a seamless wrapping to trap someone. Frequently her magic is used in a protective manner, such as weaving protective spells into cloth to stave off illness and spread of disease, tying invisibility magic into a cloak, or weaving maps that would lead to lost items. One of her specialties is weaving bandages at great speed that have charms of health in them that foster accelerated healing. In many ways her magic is limited by creativity and the medium itself, and level of preparation. With appropriate mixtures of oils, powders, and magical agents, she can even create magicked cloth that can contain other magics, thereby allowing her to create powerful wards.

It is to be noted that as an experienced and well trained great mage (meaning one of the more powerful practitioners of magic in her world), she believes in minimal use of her magic. The philosophy of her religious order and of magecraft in general in her world is that it is best to hold back magic whenever possible if not working a specific project as she feels use of magic when not needed can dwindle the mage's energy and they cannot be certain what emergency might arise where it could be needed.

As a great mage Lark is even known to be powerful enough to allow her magic to work through her even when she does not have a specific spell prepared. At one instance when one of her wards accidentally created a water spout with weather magic, she was able to channel her own magic through her spindle to reverse the flow of the water and thus end the spout. She has also used her magic to unweave other spells, including breaking her wards out of an unwise twisting of their power together in the face of a pirate attack.

Magical Agent Preparation
As a magic worker, Lark has training in some traditional magical forms known as arcane magic. While she cannot use the greater number of their spells save through her own magical adaptation, she can concoct some of their agents, magical oils, and powders. These can boost healing, promote health, magically purify, allow her to see magic, or a variety of other things. However the vast majority of these require a combination of minerals, stones, and most importantly, plants from her world that may be difficult, if not impossible, to find on Agra 10. Therefore use of this is limited, as Lark is not trained in the processes needed to derive the magical nature of plants from this world.

Master Ward Magic
All mages first learn warding, to protect their own magical workings or protect those outside of their workings. This is most commonly achieved through creating a circle of power through the medium the mage works in, which is thread for Lark, but can be expanded to be worked into any cloth by Lark. This can result in things like making a tent that, with a word, repels interested animals. These wards can also be keyed to a person or a specific key word, and thus repeated by another and they will be able to raise and lower the wards at will.

Personal Item: A leather pouch at her side containing her mage kit. This includes a drop spindle, a spool of red silk thread, a spool of undyed wool thread, two rolags of undyed wool, and a small packet of sewing needles.
